1.
Ode to a Large Tuna in the Market is a poem to describe the life and the death of the Tuna. The Juxtaposition between life and death is used to emphasise the difference between his exciting life and the boring ending. It says swam and then dead and tidal wave, dead. It uses these very close together to make you feel depressed when everything ends with death(as well as ending life it usually ends the stanza as well). This poem uses the word dead as an ending point, it gives information on the Tuna's life and then just ends it off.

2.
The author of Ode to a Large Tuna in the Market uses juxtaposition to make big differences between the Tuna's life were it was strong and powerful on then death. It says a 'well oiled ship of the wind, the only true machine' and then 'navigating now the waters of death'. This means it was a strong powerful fish that could do anything, but there is something he can't do, he can't escape death.

3.
A jump shift is when you talk about one time frame and then quickly switch from past, present and future. In this poem, after the life in the past in says now which brings it back to the future. It says 'well oiled ship, a true machine-navigating now the waters of death' and 'this torpedo, missile swam- now lying in front of me dead'. The poet uses this style to take you into the passed and then makes you feel bad when it brings you back to the future. In both of these it uses 'now' before the death part, using a jump shift to bring you back to the present.

Juxtaposition between Life and Death

Examples:
Direct: Swam-Dead, Tidal wave-Dead, Unflawed-Dead

Indirect: Man of War-Vegatables

The writer uses direct words to do the the juxtaposition, this makes you feel sorry for the fish because  the writer talks about its life like it was exciting but then just ends it quickly and suddenly and makes you think that his life was cut short and killed.
