Cold, shivering and alone, the book Stone Cold describes this very well. Link is similar and different to real life people from the article because one, he feels sick and hungry but in the article it says lots of the homeless take drugs. In the article it says you should give the homeless food rather than money because that is what they need most, and in the book it says Link was very hungry and uses cigarettes to make him feel better. In the article it says lots of homeless people have a drink or drug problem, but Link just buys food and healthy drinks, not things that are harmful to his body. In the book the author wants to make Link out as a good person because he is the protagonist and the author wants the reader to like him, and feel sorry for him.
In England alone 185,000 people are homeless because of low housing numbers and cuts in benefits. In England homeless numbers have rises immensely in the last three years. Studies show that 1 in 10 people have been homeless for a period in their lives and and 1 in 50 have been homeless for at least 5 years. Once you are homeless it makes it very difficult for you to claim benefits or get a job, this means that once you have been sleepy rough for a certain amount of time you will get harder for you to fit back into society. Also people think the government should do more to help the homeless. Many people find the government is not doing enough and that they should take responsibility and help rough sleepers. Homelessness is a big problem and it is only get worse if someone doesn't do something about it.

Link has been very unlucky in his life, and a series of unfortunate events led him to become homeless on the streets of London. His mother got involved with the wrong man. He didn't like link at all and he made it quite clear that wanted Link to leave. The man had changes his mum, so she didn't back Link up but she just let him leave. The author has made the reader feel bad for Link, who had just become homeless because of his horrible step-dad, and makes you want to read on and find out if he will ever find a better life.
